Common questions
Is transparency preserved?
Transparent areas are preserved. The preview background is not included in PNG; actual white shapes in the source remain.
Does a larger PNG scale indefinitely?
PNG is a bitmap with fixed pixel dimensions. Keep the SVG for scalable graphics and further path editing.
Why can one PNG dimension differ from the chosen size?
The longest edge is the larger dimension; the other is rounded to preserve proportions. A 3:2 canvas exported at 1200 pixels produces 1200 × 800 pixels.
How do DPI and pixel dimensions relate?
Pixel dimensions define image samples; DPI specifies pixels per printed inch. Changing DPI does not add detail. Printed width is approximately pixel width divided by DPI; confirm production requirements.
Why can fonts or shadows differ after export?
Missing fonts, live text, complex filters and external styles can change rendering. Check dependencies in the source design application, then preview and export.
Can PNG be losslessly converted back to the original SVG?
Original nodes, layers and fonts cannot be recovered automatically. Tracing creates new outlines rather than restoring the design source. Keep the original SVG.
