Why is the edited SVG not saved? Differences between export and original download

Written and maintained by:Sweet Tomato E-commerce Technology Co., Ltd. Updated

Editor modifications will not be automatically written back to the original task file. After completing color deletion, erasure or color adjustment, you need to click Export file in the editor; return to the task page to download and you will get the original conversion result.

Determine the problem and applicable conditions first

The canvas state in the browser page is not equal to the disk file. When refreshing, closing, or re-entering the editor, you should not assume that the last unexported operation will still be retained. It is recommended to export a file with a version number after critical modifications.

Process and check in order

  1. Save the original SVG first and identify the edited version with a different file name.
  2. To finish in the editor, use the Export file menu.
  3. Open the file you just downloaded and check whether the background was removed or the color was modified.

Check the finished result

If the file looks unchanged, check to see if you have an old download, original task file, or browser cache tab open. Use names that include a date and version number to distinguish them, and don't resolve unexported problems by converting them over and over again.

SVG format basis and reference materials

SVG can contain both vector shapes, images, and text. Therefore, a file name ending in .svg does not alone prove that the original image has been converted to an editable path.W3C SVG 2 Specification: SVG Graphics Objectdescribes these object types.
