The pattern disappears after removing the stroke: How to determine whether the stroke is necessary

Written and maintained by:Sweet Tomato E-commerce Technology Co., Ltd. Updated

Lines displayed by stroke alone will not be visible when the stroke is removed. Undo first and check the fill and stroke structure of the pattern; when you need to retain the outline, you cannot clear all strokes with one click.

Determine the problem and applicable conditions first

Hollow text, wireframe icons and outline illustrations often use fill="none" to match the stroke. There are also patterns where the black border is a closed filled path, and removing the stroke has no effect on this. The two types of structures look similar, but are handled differently.

Process and check in order

  1. Immediately undo the wrong operation and restore the complete graphics.
  2. Check whether the target line has only stroke and whether there is fill.
  3. Only process strokes that are determined to be unnecessary; use professional software to evaluate and convert outlines when you want to retain the appearance of line width.

Check the finished result

Converting strokes to paths will change the object structure and editing methods. Line ends, corners and intersections still need to be checked after the operation. Batch de-tracing on this site does not mean automatically generating qualified cutting lines or single-line drafts.

SVG format basis and reference materials

SVG can contain both vector shapes, images, and text. Therefore, a file name ending in .svg does not alone prove that the original image has been converted to an editable path.W3C SVG 2 Specification: SVG Graphics Objectdescribes these object types.
