How to prepare the sticker die line? The outer contour and pattern are not on the same layer
The visible edges of the sticker pattern are used for different purposes than making the die lines. The design or production personnel should establish independent closed contours as required to indicate bleeding and safe areas. All tracing paths cannot be directly regarded as tangents.
Determine the problem and applicable conditions first
Internal glyphs, textures and decorations may cause unnecessary cuts if used as cutting lines. If the outer frame is too close to the subject, it will also amplify the registration error. The specific offset distance and line name rules should be given by the receiver instead of applying fixed values.
Process and check in order
- Confirm the size, shape and specifications of the finished product and the square knife mold.
- Organize the pattern and die path separately and check whether they are closed.
- Comes with a clear preview and requires the producer to confirm tangents and bleeds.
Check the finished result
Don’t treat stroke width as bleed width. After exporting the delivery file, recheck the layers, colors, and actual size to prevent the die lines from being mistakenly printed, or white edges appearing on the edges of the pattern when cutting.
