What should I do if the small characters are distorted after converting the logo to SVG?

Written and maintained by:Sweet Tomato E-commerce Technology Co., Ltd. Updated

When small characters are distorted, first compare the original image to see if it has missing pens, blur or adhesion, and then check the detail changes caused by scaling. Vectorization does not automatically restore fonts; manual reflowing is often more controllable when accurate text and authorized fonts are available.

Does the distortion come from the original image or the conversion?

First enlarge the original image by pixels and check whether the strokes and the inner holes of the letters are no longer distinguishable. When there is insufficient information in the original image, the smoothed path may still represent an incorrect glyph, and the outline cannot be smoothed and restored as text.

This site is scaled proportionally according to the 3 Mi pixel budget and the longest side 4096 pixel limit when processing. If the text in a large pattern only occupies a small area, you need to pay attention to how many pixels are left in the text after scaling; do not repeatedly submit the same low-quality original image in the hope of fixed improvement.

After converting the text to a path, can it still be modified by typing?

Normally, you cannot directly input and modify the original font. The image tracing output is a graphic outline, which does not mean OCR recognition, font matching or original design restoration.

Brand names, numbers and punctuation should be verified verbatim. When used for commercial logos, only visual similarity may not meet brand specifications. You should confirm with the original or the brand.

How to choose the next step?

Priority is given to obtaining original design source files such as SVG and AI; if there are no source files, we will look for uncompressed high-quality exported images. For small fonts that must be accurate, designers can retype them using authorized fonts.

The color removal and stroke processing of the site editor cannot repair all glyphs. Keep the original manuscript and process it after determining the specific defects. After completion, accept it according to the actual size and the manufacturer's requirements.

  1. Lists the locations of missing pens, glues, or incorrect glyphs.
  2. Check the original text to confirm the correct text.
  3. Choose clearer material or rearrange it manually instead of blindly enlarging the bitmap.
  4. Review text holes, kerning and fine lines before delivery.

SVG format basis and reference materials

SVG can contain both vector shapes, images, and text. Therefore, a file name ending in .svg does not alone prove that the original image has been converted to an editable path.W3C SVG 2 Specification: SVG Graphics Objectdescribes these object types.
