How to check the design documents before sending the printing pattern to the factory?
First confirm the process, actual size, color requirements and receiving format with the factory, and then check the text, background, thin lines and white space in the pattern. SVG is just one of the file formats, and the completion of vectorization does not mean that it is suitable for all printing processes.
Before starting to organize documents, what are the requirements?
Let’s first explain clearly what to print: chest patterns on clothes, all-over fabrics, packaging stickers, etc. The requirements for pattern size and delivery method may be different. Write down the expected width, height, placement, and substrate color clearly to avoid sending just one rendering.
The same set of document requirements cannot be applied to different processes. Confirm with the producer whether color separation, transparent background, spot color information or specific templates are required; do not use a general parameter online to replace the template given by the factory.
- Record the actual width and height of the product, substrate color and pattern.
- Confirm the format, version or template accepted by the process and producer.
- Ask whether thin lines, small characters and white space can be stably output according to the target size.
- Determine whether physical samples are required and their confirmation process.
How to check text, color and background one by one?
The text must be proofread word for word, and there may be glyph errors after pathing. Thin lines and white spaces need to be checked in actual size, not just whether the outline is smooth after the screen is enlarged.
The white on the screen may be the background color, a true white graphic, or the preview canvas. If used on dark substrates, it is necessary to clarify whether the white graphics should be retained and whether the background is transparent. Colors are based on documents and samples confirmed by the producer. Screen preview cannot replace physical confirmation.
What to do when bleed, cutting lines or blades are needed?
Bleed is the area where the pattern extends beyond the trim boundaries, while crop marks are used to indicate the boundaries of the finished product; they serve different purposes. Adobe Illustrator's typographical marks and bleed instructions can be used to understand concepts.
Whether bleeding is required, what the value is, and how to layer the blades, the production template of the current product should be used. This knowledge base does not provide uniform bleed values that apply to all garments, fabrics, and packaging, nor does this site automatically generate production stencils.
How to deliver to facilitate the other party’s acceptance?
Name the editable file and the effect preview separately, and list the size, background, and version in the description. Save the source file before modification to avoid having to go back to a version with compressed or merged layers.
Ask the producer to confirm whether there are any missing words, missing pictures, size changes or color problems after opening; modify according to the version number after receiving feedback. For projects that are sensitive to color and details, you can confirm the sample before mass production.
- Deliver editable draft and sized preview.
- Indicates color, background, font, or path handling.
- Please confirm the format, version and target size from the producer.
- File the final version separately to avoid misuse of older versions.
SVG format basis and reference materials
SVG can contain both vector shapes, images, and text. Therefore, a file name ending in .svg does not alone prove that the original image has been converted to an editable path.W3C SVG 2 Specification: SVG Graphics Objectdescribes these object types.
